Michael West

Michael was born in Knoxville, Tennessee.

A lifelong lover of all things East Tennessee, he spent 30 years living all over the South. For the past 25 years, Michael has served as chief executive officer of numerous companies––some successful, others not. Along the way, he’s been blessed to experience events and interact with thoughtful leaders who have impacted his life and made him wonder how this happened to the son of Pat and Ray.

Michael is an experienced lecturer, media guest, thought leader, and featured author in trade publications.  He has been quoted by MSNBC, Reuters, The New York Times, the LA Times, USA Today, and countless local newspapers, and given on-air interviews with ABC, CNN, CNNfn, ESPN, Fox News, and NBC. He has made guest appearances on multiple radio shows, including Bloomberg. In 2010, Michael was named Entrepreneur of the Year for the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration.  Upon receiving the award, he quipped “it must have been a slim year for my alma mater.” In 2013 Michael was the recipient of the John C. Whitehead Legacy Award.

Today, Michael is Executive Chairman of Lirio, an AI company focusing on patient engagement in healthcare. Despite his travels and wide-ranging career, Michael is never far from home. He lives a life full of adventure, and believes in good friends, contributing to society, and enjoying life. An avid fly fisherman, Michael is always ready to chase big trout.  He is also a prolific reader who tries to finish one book a week.

In expectation of many grandkids, he now lives in Bristol, Tennessee, with his wife of 35 years, Tiffiny. They have two children. Ashley and her husband Gautum live in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Thomas and his wife Alexa, and their almost-perfect son Emmett, live in Charlottesville, Virginia.
